2022
Every year I briefly look back at the year that is (almost) behind us. Just because I like it and because you often think: Oh yes, remember?
Well 2022, there you go....
2022, one year...
- that started while we were in lockdown again/still/for a while....
- where thankfully this one passed quickly and the "old normal" was back in our lives fairly quickly....
- In which the agenda was well filled with cool and beautiful assignments... #hankful
- In which I was able to make many new contacts but also old acquaintances reappeared before my lens....
- the passport photo studio has been very well attended and there is now also a location on this side of Maas for quality passport photos....
- in which I had the opportunity to visit many schools in the southern Netherlands to photograph the kids and, based on that, decided to start offering this under my own banner as well....
- whose days again this year had too few hours 😉
- that due to the busy schedule also caused other "tasks" to be left behind
- in which website and social media unfortunately did not get the attention they deserve but this was not apparent from the applications....
- where families from all over the country also managed to find me again for a fun Family Shoot on location during their stay in Limburg and sometimes even in Brabant....
- in which my studio was well found by companies in the region for portrait photos or photos of their latest products....
- which is not over, but my list of plans and ideas this year is not completed. A good sign I believe 😉
- Where a great opportunity came along at an unexpected and unplanned moment....
I am of course talking about the move to my new location, 75 meters away from the old one. The whole move was not a plan per se this year nor anticipated/budgeted for.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to become a co-tenant of a building on Dautzenberg Street. A dream came true, plans were made and the doors opened. The latter, of course, only after several weeks of odd jobs. As time went on, I noticed that I wanted to eventually stand on my own two feet. To bring out my own identity and make it clear to visitors that they were in the right place. During one of my Friday walks to the fish cart that is always on the square here, my eye caught an empty building. Although I had walked past it several times and the building had been empty for several months, I had not noticed it before.
Long story short; called realtor, viewed property 2x, measured everything properly and worked out possibilities, worked out numbers, gave GO to the realtor, waited a few weeks and just before fall break the key transfer. And now look. My own place!!! Centrally located, free parking and highly visible. It's taking a storm! Not normal... It had to be this way I guess 🙂 .
And now, gearing up for 2023.
A year in which.
- The calendar is already well filled again....
- My website and socialmedia are going to get some love again. But! work comes before 😉
- I want to start shaping my plans and ideas and offer even more cool services that are unique in the region
- The studio is going to gain even more name recognition and become a household name in Venlo and surrounding areas
- There is always room to deviate from the above if it benefits "the cause"....
I wish you the very best for 2023 and hope to see you soon in the studio, at your business or at a beautiful outdoor location. You make the memories, I like to capture them.
Regards Rob.
